Simon Booth

Simon Booth is a clinical Research Fellow working between the school of pharmacy and biomolecular sciences and the regional burn service at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.

His current research work is focused in the area of antibiotic effectiveness and diagnosis of wound infection.

My research interests

My main research interests are around clinical problems in burn injury such as antibiotic resistance and wound infection. I am currently investigating whether antibiotic given to patients with burn wound infection reach sufficient levels in the wound and how the wound environment responds to infection and antibiotic therapy.

Biography

Originally from Yorkshire, I qualified in Nursing in 1998 at the 国产探花. I moved straight to the regional burn unit at Queen Victoria Hospital and worked as a clinical Nurse. In 2003 I completed an MSc in Wound healing and tissue repair from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff and moved back into clinical practice. My dual role in clinical practice and academic research allows me to understand the needs of the patient and understand how academic research can lead to answers. I regularly lead multicentre clinical trials in and sit on the Cochrane Collaboration Wounds group
