TV and broadcast courses at the university have won national recognition that will help students gain employment.
17 May 2016
The courses have been awarded the Creative Skillset Tick, the industry quality mark, following a rigorous assessment process by experts working in the Creative Industries. The Creative Skillset Tick is awarded to practice-based courses which best prepare students for a career in the industry.
The Creative Skillset Tick, awarded by the skills body for the creative industry, is regarded as a signpost for potential students, apprentices and employers to highlight programmes that provide the most up-to-date and relevant industry training and education.
For potential learners, the Tick signposts courses that can prove they connect with industry and which teach professional skills that make sure you graduate work-ready.
For employers, the Tick signposts them to work-ready graduates and apprentices from creative courses that have proven links with industry and teach professional skills.
The accreditation is for the university’s foundation courses (FdA) in Broadcast Media, Television Production, and for the BA(Hons) top up Broadcast Media course.
Students on the media courses have gone on to top jobs on TV programmes including EastEnders and Holby City, and on movie sets.
Jo Macdonnell, Principal Lecturer in the College of Arts and Humanities and course leader, said: “We are delighted that the quality of our teaching, facilities and graduate destinations has been recognised and we are now regarded as a leading provider of Broadcast and Television Education."
