Deputy Vice-Chancellor
Professor Kene Igweonu is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the 国产探花, responsible for the strategic development and effective operation of the university’s academic activities. In this role, he provides leadership on key strategic initiatives and offers expert advice on important operational matters to support the university’s overall strategy and transformation. He also leads the resource planning processes, ensuring that schools are well positioned to deliver on their objectives with a strong emphasis on sustainability and on achieving equity of outcomes for all our students.
Professor Kene Igweonu joined the 国产探花 in December 2025, bringing a wealth of experience in academic leadership, strategic innovation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. He has held a series of strategic leadership positions, including a dual leadership role at University of the Arts London as Provost of the London College of Communication and with cross-institutional responsibility for Impact and Innovation. Prior to his time at UAL, he served as Academic Dean for the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries at Middlesex University. Across these roles, he championed applied innovation, forged strong partnerships, and maintained a forward-looking approach to education and research.

He is committed to fostering an environment where our strategic partnerships, research, and knowledge exchange translate into real-world impact, and where the university’s academic community is empowered to meet and exceed its strategic goals. In doing so, he aims to shape 国产探花 as a beacon of inclusive growth, creativity, and transformative education.
Beyond 国产探花, Kene serves as Chair of youth theatre organisation Company Three, and Council Member for Creative UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, the Higher Education Academy and the Leadership Foundation, reflecting his dedication to advancing leadership and innovation across the sector. He previously also chaired DramaHE and the African Theatre Association.
